Inland Homes receive planning consent for 700-home scheme

Inland Homes and Homes England have partnered to deliver a 700-home development based in Essex. Planning permission has been received for the £200 million project, in which alongside 700 homes, 25,000sqm of commercial space will be provided at Gardiners Park Village, Basildon.

Construction is expected to begin in the autumn, with 220 designated as affordable housing for both rent and shared ownership. The site will also include a new school and sports facilities.

Stephen Wicks, chief executive of Inland Homes, said: “We are very pleased to have secured planning permission for the Gardiners Park Village site and to be working with Homes England to deliver much-needed affordable homes.

“Acquiring and taking brownfield sites through the planning system for development lies at the heart of what we do. Inland Homes has once again demonstrated its skill and tenacity in being able to deliver planning on these complex sites in order to create sustainable communities and homes for the future.”

Inland Homes launched its for-profit housing association, Rosewood Housing, in 2018 with the intention of targeting Section 106 homes to generate steady rental income.
