Canary Wharf to deliver new 55-storey residential tower

Canary Wharf Group has recently revealed a new 55-storey residential tower they will be building in the Isle of Dogs business district. Designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) 624 build to rent homes will be created and sold through a mixture of market and affordable rent. Canary Wharf’s rental arm Vertus will manage the rental apartments.

The company hope to change Canary Wharf from a business district to a place to live, so have re-submitted planning permission for the scheme to include residential units, as opposed to their planning consent they gained in 2015, for the development to be purely commercial offices.

The development also includes a four-storey mixed-use ‘pavilion building, with remote working facilities, retail and public spaces and new thoroughfares.
