The Opportunity

We are working with an established Tier 1 Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health contractor that is looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its London team.

The business delivers major M&E packages across high-profile residential and commercial developments and is continuing to strengthen its engineering and project delivery teams.

This position would suit a Mechanical Engineer who has gained strong experience working for an M&E contractor and is looking for a long-term opportunity where they can take greater responsibility and continue progressing their career.

The Role

You will work as part of the project delivery team, taking responsibility for the mechanical elements of major building services projects from design coordination through installation, testing, commissioning and handover.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing and coordinating mechanical building services packages
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information
• Working closely with design, commercial and project teams
• Coordinating mechanical services with electrical, public health and other trades
• Managing specialist subcontractors and suppliers
• Monitoring installation quality and ensuring works are delivered to specification
• Resolving technical and coordination issues on site
• Attending project, design and coordination meetings
• Monitoring programme and progress of mechanical works
• Supporting procurement of mechanical equipment and packages
• Assisting with testing, commissioning and project handover
• Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and the wider project team
• Ensuring works are delivered safely and to the required quality standards

About You

Strong experience working directly for an M&E / Building Services contractor is essential.

We are particularly interested in speaking with Mechanical Engineers who have experience delivering sizeable mechanical packages within the London construction market.

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

• Strong mechanical building services knowledge
• Previous experience working for an M&E contractor
• Experience delivering mechanical packages on major construction projects
• Good understanding of mechanical systems, installation and commissioning
• Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and technical information
• Experience coordinating with other building services and trades
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively with subcontractors, consultants and clients
• A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of their work
