The Opportunity

We are working with an established Tier 1 Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health contractor that is looking to appoint an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in London.

The business delivers major building services packages across some of London’s most high-profile residential and commercial developments and has built an excellent reputation for the quality of its projects and delivery.

This is a great opportunity for an M&E Quantity Surveyor who has built a solid grounding within the sector and is now looking for a business where they can continue to develop their career.

You will join an experienced commercial team, working on substantial M&E projects and taking increasing responsibility as your experience develops.

The Role

Working closely with the Commercial Manager and wider project team, responsibilities will include:

• Managing subcontractor procurement, packages and accounts
• Preparing and reviewing valuations and applications for payment
• Cost reporting and forecasting
• Managing variations and change
• Monitoring project costs, value and commercial performance
• Subcontractor payments and account management
• Supporting the preparation and agreement of final accounts
• Working closely with operational and project teams
• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
• Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting
• Building strong relationships with clients and the wider supply chain

Extensive experience working directly for an M&E / Building Services subcontractor is essential for this position.

You should have a strong understanding of the commercial management of mechanical and electrical packages and be comfortable working within a fast-paced project environment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within an M&E contractor
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical packages
• Experience managing subcontractors and supply-chain accounts
• Good understanding of valuations, variations, cost reporting and final accounts
• Strong commercial awareness
• Good communication and negotiation skills
• A proactive approach to problem-solving
• The ambition to progress towards Senior Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Manager level

Career stability is particularly important. Candidates must be able to demonstrate longevity within their previous positions rather than a history of frequent short-term moves.
