Are you up to date with the 2024 NHBC Technical Standards?

Released annually, the NHBC establish the technical prerequisites and performance benchmarks for the planning and construction of newly registered homes.

Significant modifications and updates have been implemented for this year throughout Parts 3 to 8 of the Technical Standards.

Some of the 2024 updates:

  • Chapter 4.6 – “Engineered Fill” in Part 4 addresses the use of engineered fill for residential developments, external works, and infrastructures.
  • Chapter 6.1, encompassing the incorporation of cavity trays for complex junctions and additional insights into the design and specification of wind posts.
  • Chapter 6.3 focusing on internal masonry walls and fire-stopping details.
  • Chapter 7.2 deliver more information on durability, ventilation strategies, integration of roof solar technologies, and roof cassette systems.
  • Part 8 aimed at enhancing the usability of sections and providing improved guidance on heat pumps and solar photovoltaics. This ensures alignment with the Requirements for Electrical Installations and addresses weephole locations in relation to gas meter boxes.
