GS8 and Octopus energy launch the UK‘s biggest ’Zero Bills’ housing development
The drive toward sustainable, energy-efficient housing in the UK has taken a significant step forward with the launch of the country’s largest ‘Zero Bills’ housing development.
GS8, a valued client, has partnered with Octopus Energy to deliver this pioneering project in Thornwood, Epping. The development will feature 113 innovative homes designed to eliminate household energy bills, leveraging cutting-edge sustainable technology to set a new benchmark for eco-friendly living.
As the demand for energy-efficient housing grows, GS8 and Octopus Energy are at the forefront of this transformation, building on the success of their Walthamstow ‘Zero Bills’ site.
This latest project integrates advanced energy solutions, including:
- Revolutionary Microgrid Technology – A centralised battery system optimises solar energy distribution across all homes.
- State-of-the-Art Green Solutions – Every home is equipped with heat pumps, solar panels and battery storage, ensuring complete energy independence.
- Sustainable Construction – Developed under gs8’s ‘Planet Positive Framework,’ these homes will store more carbon than they emit throughout construction and maintenance.
Advancing a future without energy bills
Octopus Energy’s ‘Zero Bills’ tariff enables residents to enjoy up to a decade without energy bills, provided their homes meet stringent efficiency criteria. To ensure sustainability remains accessible, 35 of the 113 homes will be allocated for affordable rent. In addition to energy-efficient living, the development prioritises community well-being, featuring green spaces and a nature reserve to promote biodiversity.
