Temporary Contract – Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer

A temporary opportunity is available for an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer to support the delivery of major new-build projects across London and the South East.

This contract role will focus on the design and coordination of large-scale residential and mixed-use developments, working closely with senior engineers to ensure high-quality technical delivery across multiple live schemes.

Project Exposure

Current projects include:

  • Large-scale new-build residential developments
  • Major mixed-use schemes
  • High-value, technically complex projects across London and the South East

These schemes provide strong technical challenge and exposure to substantial urban developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design of mechanical building services systems including HVAC, public health systems, and associated plant
  • Produce mechanical design calculations, specifications, and technical reports
  • Develop and coordinate detailed drawings and BIM models
  • Work collaboratively with electrical engineers, architects, structural engineers, and contractors
  • Attend design meetings and site visits as required
  • Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations and relevant industry standards
  • Support senior engineers in delivering projects to programme and budget
  • Maintain high standards of technical accuracy and documentation

Technical Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy environment
  • Exposure to new-build residential or mixed-use developments (desirable)
  • Proficiency in Revit (MEP)
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Solid understanding of HVAC design principles, including heat loss/gain calculations and ventilation strategies
  • Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance
  • Ability to produce calculations and technical documentation with appropriate supervision

A degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Progress toward IEng or CEng accreditation would be advantageous.
