Required background: Construction Manufacturing

Role Overview
We are partnering with a client to secure an experienced Logistics Manager to spearhead the development of logistics and warehousing operations within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This pivotal role ensures materials, finished goods, and third-party logistics services are managed efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively to support seamless factory operations.

Working closely with senior manufacturing leadership, you will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, refining systems, and leading high-performing teams.

We are looking for a process-oriented individual who can establish robust procedures and solve complex logistical challenges.

Key Responsibilities
• Operational Leadership & Coordination: Lead all logistics and warehouse activities, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. You will coordinate closely with Yard Managers to determine optimal storage strategies for materials and finished goods.

• Production Integration: Maintain a visible presence on the shop floor, meeting with the production team each morning to understand manufacturing output and accurately plan outgoing loads.

• Systems & Process Development: Take ownership of systems and procedures; this includes identifying gaps, creating clear procedural documentation (SOPs), and instilling a process-driven culture to professionalise the function.

• Transport & 3PL Management: Establish and manage all Third-Party Logistics (3PL) arrangements. You will work collaboratively with in-house planners to precisely time outgoing loads, ensuring transport efficiency is maximised.

• Team Management: Manage, motivate, and develop logistics and warehouse teams to deliver high standards of performance and engagement.

• Inventory Control: Ensure inventory movements and logistics planning are accurately controlled using ERP systems (specifically Microsoft Dynamics 365).

• Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders, manage expectations, and proactively solve problems.

Skills & Experience
• Sector Knowledge: Proven experience in a senior logistics or warehouse management role within a manufacturing environment. A solid understanding of the construction industry and its supply chain nuances is essential.

• Process Oriented: You must be a “systems person” with a track record of developing and embedding logistics procedures and training materials.

• Operational Expertise: Strong background in logistics planning, warehouse operations, and inventory control, with specific experience in setting up or managing 3PL providers.

• Leadership: Demonstrable experience managing teams and driving operational change on the ground.

• Technical Skills: Confident user of ERP systems, ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365.

• Soft Skills: exceptional problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills, capable of influencing everyone from the shop floor to the boardroom.

• Commercial Awareness: A clear understanding of cost control, efficiency, and operational risk.
