Gleeson Homes set sights on 3,000 completions

Gleeson Homes has announced that it is now focusing on achieving its goal of building 3,000 homes annually after completing a restructuring over the past 18 months. The company noted that consumer confidence is starting to recover, spurred by recent interest rate cuts.

In its financial update for the year ending in June, Gleeson reported a 5% increase in turnover, reaching £345 million, although pre-tax profit dropped by 21% to £25 million.

CEO Graham Prothero highlighted the company’s aim to boost annual housing completions to 3,000 as net reservation rates have improved. In the ten weeks leading up to September 6, the rate increased by 28%, reaching 0.50 per site per week compared to 0.39 in the same period last year.

Looking forward, he expressed optimism about the government’s proposed policy changes, focusing on affordable housing and planning reform. These reforms will benefit both Gleeson Homes and Gleeson Land as the company executes its growth strategy.

Prothero also noted that Gleeson Land is expected to perform better in FY2025, with several sites nearing planning approval and sale processes.

Reflecting on the company’s recent performance, Prothero said: “Gleeson Homes exceeded expectations, completing 1,772 home sales, up from 1,723 last year, and delivering an operating profit exceeding £30 million.”
