A 1,200 home development designed by AHR Architects has been approved in Manchester, which will include a 34-storey tower. Developer Southvalley Estates, a subsidiary of property investor MCR Property Group will carry out the £220m scheme.
The development consists of nine blocks and will be built on the site of a former gasworks. It will include 85 affordable homes through shared ownership, a public park, commercial space, underground parking and a cycle route.
Known as Gasworks New Town, the development is the latest phase of the £4bn Northern Gateway project, which hopes to deliver 15,000 homes and construction is expected to be completed by 2023, with the site being cleared later this year or early in 2022.
